Dorothea Lange was an influential American documentary photographer. She was born May 26,1895 in New jersey. She had a contraction to polio and remained with a weak right leg and a permanent limp. These traumatic events caused her to to want to become a documentary photographer. She also studied at Columbia University She was involved with m,any New York photography studios. Later on after a journey around the world she decided to turn her lens around to the streets instead of in the studio.
